JOURNAL "ROMANO CENTRO"

First published in 1993, Romano Centro is the quarterly newspaper of the association also called Romano Centro. The association Romano Centro represents all Roma groups living in Austria. Special attention has been directed both to the representation of the Roma, who have immigrated to Austria as foreign workers since the 1960s, and also to the care of those Roma who have recently come to Austria as refugees from the Balkans.

Romano Centro is bilingual - Romani / German -, and primarily uses the international Romani variety of the Kalderaš - partly because of its orientation. Fairy tales or stories of members of other Roma groups, however, are published in the respective Romani variety.

As regards content, it covers a wide range of topics: from the above mentioned fairy tales and stories, Austria-relevant issues and reports from other European countries to contributions of famous people - such as Vaclav Havel - on the situation of Roma.
