Romani Patrin, which was first published in 1998, is the quarterly newspaper of the association Roma in Oberwart in Burgenland which represents the interests of the Burgenland Roma.
Romani Patrin is bilingual – Romani / German. Because of its primary target readership - i.e. the Burgenland Roma - it uses the Burgenland-Romani, which is called Roman by its native speakers, put into writing according to the German example.
As regards content, Romani Patrin offers both locally relevant and international articles: information on the activities of the association Roma and on the situation of the Burgenland Roma as well as on culture and the present situation of Roma in other countries and also on the general situation of the Roma in Europe.
Being a association newspaper, Romani Patrin is sent to all members of the association Roma free of charge; provided that the annual membership fee of - at present - ATS 300,-- has been paid. Higher donations are of course possible.
